Meet
Taylor.
Canadian roots. A curious spirit.
A life shaped by the water.
Born in Kelowna, British Columbia, and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, Taylor Ruck always knew which flag she wanted to wear. Summers visiting her grandparents in Kelowna meant swimming with the Aqua Jets—the same club her mother once called home.
She began racing at seven. By 15, she was representing Canada at the World Junior Championships. A year later, she stood on an Olympic podium in Rio.
Stanford AthleticsThe Stanford chapter.

At Stanford, Taylor brought her international experience to the Cardinal while pursuing human biology. Her college career included four NCAA titles and 19 All-America honours, alongside a 2019 team national championship.
She won back-to-back NCAA 200-yard freestyle titles in 2022 and 2023, and helped Stanford win the 800-yard freestyle relay in 2019 and 2022. Her story bridges elite sport, education, and the continual work of growing as a person.
Her own way
forward.
Away from competition, Taylor enjoys art, reading, and exploring. Team Canada’s athlete profile names her favourite motto simply: “Never give up.”
Her career has taken her from Rio to Tokyo to Paris, with four Olympic medals along the way. But the results are only part of the story—a story still unfolding, in and out of the water.
